Media workshop at Daggar Press Club F.P. Report
BUNER: The communication wing of the district health department was arranged Media workshop in the press club Daggar on Tuesday to onboard local media men in the efforts of maximum coverage at centers and coverage of the targeted population at door step to maintain the honour of keeping the district POLIO FREE since 2004. The aim and objective of the workshop was to acquaint local media men of the efforts in EPI/PEI begin right from preparation of vaccine, its cold chain system and administration to children at door step. The sorrowful aspect of the whole episode was that the DHCSO and DSV have to use laptop to display the whole mechanism when there was no facility of MULTY MEDIA in the department of health. The workshop attended by ten members of the Press Club and five members of the district health/EPI/PEI section. Those represented the health department include-District Health Communication Officer-Abid, district coordinator communicable diseases-Dr. Fazli Azeem, Coordinato National Programme-Dr.Amir Zahir, Coordinator malaria-Zahir Shah, DSV-Javid Bacha while the coordinator an organization working in the health-MERLIN-Dr. Asghar Shah participated. The DHCSO educated the Journalist community importance of immunization both children up to five years age and womenfolk from fifteen up to forty-five years old. He explained role of the United Nations Organization pocket organization United Nations International Children Emergency Funds [UNICEF] that is committed to immunize the targeted groups and eradicate fatal disease of POLIO from the world that is still endemic in Nigeria, Afghanistan, India and Pakistan. He termed role of media of high value and informed updated them polio situation in the country, province, Malakand Division while two and one fresh cases of polio positive reported in neighbouring districts of Swat and Shanglapar. He reminded them that the district Buner could not hold active campaign for the last six months due to security reasons. That further endangered the polio free status as red zone district. He urged upon the journalist community to come forward and play their positive role of creating awareness among masses through print and electronic media to protect children and womenfolk of home town as healthy mother could give birth a healthy child and only a healthy person has healthy mind to grow up and become helping hand of the society. The DSV-Javid Bacha explained each and every thing about the immunization system, cold chain, Vaccine vial monitor system, micro plan, work plan, seclection, training, supervision, monitoring and evaluation to achieve the targeted goal set by the world health organization[WHO].
