Siraj asks army chief, FM to bring back Dr Aafia By Bureau report PESHAWAR: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Central Deputy Chief Sirajul Haq Thursday said that if the army chief
and foreign minister failed to get Dr Aafia Siddiqi released and bring her back to the country along with them the people
would welcome them with ‘black flags’. Addressing a gathering in Buner where former parliamentarians of Pakistan
People’s Party-Sherpao (PPP-S) joined the JI, Sirajul Haq alleged that despite democracy and parliament in the country,
decision on all the important issues were being taken at the US embassy. Former member of the National Assembly from Buner
district, Sher Akbar Khan, ex-member of the NWFP Assembly Jamshed Khan along with scores of former nazims of union and district
councils and hundreds of their supporters quit the PPP-S and joined the JI on the occasion. JI NWFP head Prof Mohammad Ibrahim
Khan, Buner District JI President Mohammad Hanif and former NWFP assembly speaker Bakht Jahan Khan also addressed the gathering.
The new entrants to the JI, Sher Akbar and Jamshed Khan also addressed the gathering. Sirajul Haq said the foreign minister
and army chief-led delegation had gone to the United States for strategic dialogue. He said the nation wanted nothing from
the US but the return of the daughter of the soil, Dr Aafia Siddiqi. “We don’t need dollars or any other support
from the US. We demand honour and respect for our nation,” he remarked. Prof Ibrahim alleged the US had maintained its
monopoly over the world and the ‘incapable’ rulers of the country had actually accepted its slavery. He said the
JI would never accept the slavery of the ‘infidel forces’. The JI leader said as long as the rulers continued
their pro-US policies and US troops stayed in the region, peace could not be restored. He said the JI considered armed struggle
within the country ‘unethical’ and ‘un-Islamic’. But the increasing drone attacks and successive operations
against own countrymen had forced the people into offering resistance. Sher Akbar and Jamshed Khan said they would remain
loyal to the Jamaat-e-Islami and continue to serve the people
