Buner elected reps complain about timber smuggling

BUNER: A delegation of the remote union council of Amazai, headed by its nazim called on district nazim Haji Rauf Khan here on Tuesday to apprise him of timber smuggling and the harm being done to the forests of Swat by timber mafia.

The delegation presented the nazim written complaint about timber smuggling and accusing the concerned quarters of keeping silence over the problem.

The delegation demanded of the nazim to play his role in stopping this illegal practice.

The district nazim on the spot contacted offices of the district forest officer and DSP Nawagai and directed them to take notice and ensure protection of the precious timbers and greenery of the area.

He assured the delegation that all-out efforts would be made to preserve beauty of the area and hoped that locals will also cooperate with the district government.
