In order to keep ourselves healthy and our immunity strong we have to provide the necessary materials to our bodies in the form of food it need. On the other hand, poor diet may result in many health related problems. Kawashiorkar, scurvy, certain types anemia, metabolic syndrome are few examples of many health issues caused as a result of poor diet.
Our bodies contains chemical compounds, such as water, carbohydrates (sugar, starch, and fibers), amino acids (in proteins), fatty acids (in lipids), and nucleic acids (DNA and RNA). These compounds in turn consist of elements such as nitrogen, carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium, manganese, chlorine, iron, iodine and, etc. These chemical compounds and elements exist in various forms and combinations (e.g.hormones, vitamins, phospholipids), in the human body and in the plant and animal organisms that humans eat.
