According to media reports the Punjab government has decided to launch a vigorous campaign for rooting out quackery from the province and a high level committee has been constituted for evolving a strategy in this regard. Addressing the meeting the other day, the Punjab Chief Minister said that quacks and fake Hakims cannot be allowed to play with human lives and the elements involved in this heinous trade in the name of medicine deserve no leniency. He said that government has decided to take stringent measures for elimination of quackery and the committee headed by Chief Secretary will devise an effective strategy for this purpose Additional Chief Secretary informed that data for elimination of quackery has been collected and Registrar Council has also been contacted in this regard.As far as the decision of the Punjab is concerned it is no doubt a good decision in the best interest of the people and community. But unless and until the same decision is implemented in practice, we cannot give any viable comment in this regard. But we also hope that Punjab Chief Minister will surely launch a full scale drive against the illegal and inhuman business of fake medicinal practice. It is also expected that other provincial governments will also take similar action to purge their land from this menace.We know that nowadays quacks and fake medical doctors and practitioners are playing with the lives of innocent people and there is no one to safeguard and protect the humanity.Chief Minister Haider Khan Hoti and the Health Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa being the talented and vibrant persons are fully cognizant of this menace are earnestly requested to follow the footsteps of Punjab government and launch a full scale drive and campaign against these quakes in the rural and backward areas of the province. Not only this, but the provision of basic medical facilities, may also be ensured at the doorsteps of the poor and helpless community.
